Career Conversation with Claire K. Qureshi, Office of the UN Special Envoy for Health in Agenda 2030 and for Malaria
Claire Qureshi leads efforts on community health and frontline delivery for the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Health, with an emphasis on supporting African countries to design, manage, and sustainability finance community health programs. In this capacity, she engages closely with ministries of health, official donors, private investors, non-government organizations, and multilateral partners. Claire also leads the team’s work to use global lessons on community health to improve maternal and child health in the U.S., especially by supporting the work of U.S.-focused foundations, implementers, and public sector leaders.
Before she joined the Office of the UN Special Envoy, Claire was a consultant with Results for Development and for McKinsey & Company, where she primarily served hospitals, health systems, and pharmaceutical companies. In addition to her work in global and domestic healthcare, Claire also served in the Office of the Chief of Staff at the U.S. Treasury Department, covering international affairs, terrorism and financial intelligence, and tax policy for Secretary Geithner. While in graduate school, Claire was a White House Intern and worked with the Office of the Chief of Staff and the National Economic Council. Claire received her MBA from Harvard Business School and her B.A. from Yale University. She lives in New Haven, Connecticut, with her husband and two children.
