Public Speaking Workshop with Edie Lush ’94
Join Edie Lush (Yale IR ’94) for a workshop on public speaking. Good communication is about building connections. What happens when we’re in the spotlight, or when we need to deliver, is that the confident, comfortable and engaging person our friends recognise can drain away to leave a drier, less effective version of ourselves. I teach you how to take control of your communication so that you command attention and speak with gravitas, persuasion and charm. You’ll walk away with the techniques to come across compelling and get buy-in to yourself and your ideas.
Edie Lush (Yale IR ’94)
With thousands of interviews under her belt, Edie knows the power of good communication – why some speeches are remembered forever while others are consigned to the paper shredder. Former political and economic correspondent for Bloomberg TV, she’s grilled CEOs, Central Bank Presidents and Parliamentarians all over the world. As Executive Editor for Hub Culture she’s recently interviewed Nobel Laureate Mohammed Yunus, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and actor/producer Michael Douglas and hosted events from New York to London to Vietnam. Edie is co-host of a podcast launching this year in Davos on the Sustainable Development Goals made in conjunction with UNICEF and the UN Foundation. Passionate about the power of expression, she is also a communication trainer helping clients give TED talks, get hired, promoted, heard and noticed. She prepares them to speak to the press, to their employees and their boards. Last year she spoke about her book, “How to Speak with Confidence in Public” to sell-out audiences in Austin, New Orleans, San Francisco and London. She lives in London and this will be her first trip back to Yale since graduating!
