Alexander Hain is a Foreign Area Officer in the United States Army. He graduated in 2005 from The Ohio State University with a degree in electrical computer engineering and was commissioned into the Air Force. As a communications engineer, he deployed to Colombia in support of counter narcotics and counterterrorism operations. He then transferred to the Army and commanded soldiers in southern Iraq, where he established a Police Transition Team to advise and train the Iraqi Police. After assessing into Special Operations, Alex completed multiple deployments in and out of combat zones including Afghanistan, Bangladesh and throughout Southeast Asia. Over the last year, he lived in the Oman and traveled extensively across the Middle East and North Africa working within the Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental and Multinational arena. At Yale, Alex will focus his studies on national security strategy, energy policy, and counterterrorism.
