Cansu Birce Gokalp was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She graduated with high honors from Bogazici University, with a double major in political science and business administration. She attended Stanford University for a term and received the certificate for international management. Before coming to Yale, she worked at Microsoft in Istanbul for a year in the communications team, undertaking responsibilities in the media relations both at the local and global levels. At Yale, she focused on Middle Eastern studies. This past summer, she first interned at the United Nations for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in New York City for the advocacy and policy teams and later on, went to San Francisco to work at change.org. She loves jazz singing and organized the “Women in Jazz” event series at Yale.
