Ryan Halbruner  enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of 2001 and was one of the first graduates of the accelerated Special Forces training course for new recruits. From 2002 to 2004 he served in 7th Special Forces Group as a Demolition Sergeant. At 7th Group he deployed on multiple counter-narcotics focused operations in South America. Since 2004, Ryan has been assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. During this period, he has completed 13 special operations deployments across the globe in pursuit of national objectives. While at the Special Operations Command, Ryan studied at the American Military University graduating with a B.A. in intelligence studies. Prior to his acceptance at Yale, Ryan most recently completed several deployments to Iraq and Syria as part of the counter-ISIS campaign. While at Yale, Ryan plans to study U.S. national security strategy, foreign policy, and multidisciplinary approaches to counterterrorism. After completing his degree at Yale, Ryan plans to return to the special operations community.
