William Thornberry graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University in 2011. Before coming to Yale, he worked in the Middle East and Washington, DC for an information technology company as a contractor to the U.S. military. In these positions, he focused on geographic information systems, image processing, and remote sensing. Previously he was an intern at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Program, where he was a contributing author to several pieces within a larger study on the future of al Qaeda. At Yale, William focused his studies on international security issues with an emphasis on the Middle East. After graduating, William is pursuing language study in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on a David L. Boren Fellowship.
