Regional Lead Africa

Kuehne Climate Center

Olivia Lamenya is the Regional Lead for Africa at the Kuehne Climate Centre (KCC), where her portfolio spans the organisation's four programme lines: climate solutions for fast-growing logistics regions, climate-compatible supply chains across maritime and port systems, logistics for carbon and resource management, and logistics for energy and industry transformation. Working across road, rail, port, and industrial systems, she convenes governments, corridor authorities, utilities, and private sector actors to translate climate ambition into operational freight solutions across African transit corridors.

Her work is grounded in a systems-level thesis: the barriers to freight decarbonization are rarely the vehicles, but the surrounding systems: charging access, grid reliability, cross-border coordination, and operational integration. She designs pilots as diagnostic instruments that generate replicable models. Her current portfolio includes Kenya's Electric Freight Programme and its Lease-for-Data battery-electric truck pilot; the A109 Electric Mobility Corridor Readiness Study along the Nairobi–Mombasa corridor; an eTruck pilot at the Port in Mombasa; a Paris Agreement Article 6.4 crediting methodology for road-to-rail modal shift on Kenya's Northern Corridor with UIC and Kenya Railways; and applied work extending KCC's logistics lens to carbon removal supply chains and biomass value chains, including the CDR Cohort 2026 programme inspiring CDR Practitioners to understand the role of supply chains and logistics.

Beyond KCC, Olivia serves as Advisor and co-founder of the Electric Mobility Association of Kenya (EMAK). She leads KCC teams across Kenya and Tanzania, with scope expanding across the Global South.
