Swagata Dey

Swagata works on thematic areas of air pollution, monitoring, clean transportation and sustainability. She currently leads the Air Quality Policy and Outreach team in the Air Quality Sector at Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP). In her role, she works with multiple state governments to frame affective policies backed by air quality observations and modelling data. Previously, she led a program at Environmental Defense Fund, India, wherein she helps city governments create actionable strategies for addressing air pollution hotspots using sensors and hyperlocal emission inventory. Her current research interests include air quality governance at the regional scale, climate co-benefits of air quality mitigation and sectoral emission inventories of Heavy-Duty Transport and DG sets. 

She serves on multiple committees including the Supreme Court mandated expert committee for Delhi NCR by CAQM. Swagata is passionate about science communication to a wider audience.
