About
Tashmeem Muntazir Chowdhury is the Head of ESG & Sustainable Finance at BRAC Bank, one of Bangladesh's leading financial institutions and the country's top-rated sustainable banks. With over 14 years of experience in Corporate Banking and Sustainable Finance, he has been a driving force behind the integration of sustainability into BRAC Bank's core strategy. Since joining the bank, Tashmeem established its Sustainable Finance Department from the ground up, building internal capacity, designing a strategic roadmap, and expanding the bank's green and sustainable finance portfolios.
Under his leadership, BRAC Bank has mobilized concessional funding, secured partnerships with international development finance institutions, and issued Bangladesh's first-ever Social Bond—an industry-first in the national context. His team launched the bank's first GHG inventory, including Scope 3 (Category 15) emissions, and published Bangladesh's first corporate disclosures aligned with the IFRS S1 and S2 standards under the ISSB. These pioneering efforts are helping reshape the country's sustainable finance landscape.
Tashmeem's work reflects his deep commitment to inclusive, climate-resilient development in the Global South. Based in one of the world's most climate-vulnerable countries, he brings a unique perspective that bridges global frameworks with local action. By training, Tashmeem is an Electrical & Electronic Engineer with an MBA.
