Description:

International Security Studies will host a conversation will Ali Wyne, a senior analyst with Eurasia Group’s Global Macro-Geopolitics practice, and Arne Westad, Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs at Yale University.

Wyne will discuss his new book, “America’s Great-Power Opportunity: Revitalizing U.S. Foreign Policy to Meet the Challenges of Strategic Competition.” Wyne argues that while the United States will increasingly have to contend with the challenges posed by a resurgent China and a revanchist Russia, Washington should not pursue a foreign policy that is driven by or beholden to their actions.  Instead, it should articulate a forward-looking conception of its role in the world, identifying where selective competition with Beijing and Moscow might further that vision, but focusing in the main on renewing its unique competitive strengths.

This event is co-sponsored by the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy and is open to the Yale community. Please register.
