Description:
International Security Studies will host a discussion with Paul Kennedy, the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History, about his new book “Victory at Sea: Naval Power and the Transformation of the Global Order in World War II”.
Arne Westad, ISS director and the Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs, will moderate the conversation.
In this engaging narrative, Kennedy grapples with the rise and fall of the Great Powers during World War II. Tracking the movements of the six major navies of the Second World War—the allied navies of Britain, France, and the United States and the Axis navies of Germany, Italy, and Japan—Kennedy tells a story of naval battles, maritime campaigns, convoys, amphibious landings, and strikes from the sea.
Copies of “Victory at Sea” will be available for purchase. A book signing will take place after the discussion ends.
This event is being held in person and will be simulcast via Zoom Webinar. In-person attendance is open to members of the Yale campus community with Yale ID (please register via EventBrite). All may attend via Zoom.
