Yale's International Leadership Center, part of the Jackson School of Global Affairs, has named its 2027 cohort of the Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship.
"Welcoming our fifth cohort is a milestone for this Fellowship," said Paul Simons, a retired U.S. ambassador and the program's founding director.
"These Fellows are building electric vehicle companies, financing large-scale renewables, drafting national energy legislation, and decarbonizing supply chains and freight corridors. By bringing them together with one another and with leading experts, we aim to deepen a global network of practitioners who are turning climate commitments into projects, investments, and policies that deliver results on the ground."
The five-month program offers an opportunity for 16 rising climate and clean energy practitioners from 13 countries across the developing and emerging world to strengthen their leadership skills, broaden technical proficiencies, deepen professional networks, and explore policy solutions with top global clean energy and climate change leaders.
"This cohort brings together leaders from government, finance, industry, and philanthropy who are driving the energy transition in their countries and regions," said Emma Sky, director of the International Leadership Center. “They include an Indian climate-tech founder helping manufacturers decarbonize their supply chains, a Congolese engineer who helped deliver one of Africa's largest solar and battery storage projects, and a Bolivian electric vehicle entrepreneur drafting his country's Green Energy Promotion Law. We look forward to supporting them as they scale their impact."
Fellows begin the program in February at the Yale campus in New Haven, taking part in a series of interactive sessions with prominent faculty and practitioners active in advancing climate and clean energy initiatives. The fellowship then continues with a series of remote learning sessions featuring top international experts. The program concludes in June with an in-person week in Paris, including dialogues with top international energy and climate change leaders.
