Vanessa Blas (TD '22) is an Anthropology major concentrating in medical anthropology. She is hoping to pursue a career in the medical field while conducting public health research that can be applicable to the patient and policy-making setting. She is particularly interested in learning more about chronic disease epidemiology and the social determinants of health and equity. Vanessa currently volunteers as a Spanish interpreter for HAVEN Free Clinic, writes for the Yale Global Health Review, is part of the Yale Mental Health Association, and does research on adolescent mental health in Dr. Hawley's Samoan Obesity, Lifestyle, and Genetics Adaptations (OLaGA) Study Group. In her free time, she loves to run around New Haven and discover new baking recipes.
