Helen Mooney (Branford College Class of 2022) is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Health and Society from Cambridge, New York. She was drawn to Global Health by its complex, interdisciplinary nature and persistent goal to help all people. Helen is primarily interested in the social determinants of health, especially in regards to maternal health. Although she is not yet sure of the perspective she will take, she hopes to address inequities in health in the future. At Yale, Helen enjoys teaching Health to middle schoolers in New Haven schools with Community Health Educators, working for the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project, and her involvement with Branford College Council. She is excited to learn from her peers, courses, and the amazing staff of the Global Health Scholars Program.
