Kamila Janmohamed (MC '22) is an Economics major from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her interest in public health stems from her experiences with the disparities between public and private healthcare services in East Africa. She is interested in the legacy of colonial healthcare and legal systems on health inequity and health policy. On campus, Kamila works at the Yale Medical School's Equity Research and Innovation Center (ERIC) as a student research intern and a member of the first cohort of Alderfer Scholars – a fellowship focused on organizational change, health disparities and health systems research. She is also a research assistant in the Sociology department, working on systematic reviews of tobacco cessation and opioid use disorder.
