Crystal Xu (TD ’23) is from Lincoln, Nebraska and plans on studying Chemistry. She is particularly interested in the social determinants of health that influence an individual’s behavior and aims to pursue an interdisciplinary and investigative analysis to address the rising global burden of noncommunicable disease and work towards prevention. Equipped with the education and training she receives through the Global Health Scholars program, she hopes to be able to better heal and help others in her future career in the healthcare field. On campus, she volunteers to prepare taxes for New Haven residents with VITA, conducts biochemistry research at Yale School of Medicine, and takes and edits photos for Yale Scientific Magazine.
