George Packer served as a Senior Fellow at Jackson from 2018 – 2019. He is a staff writer for The New Yorker.  His most recent book, “The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America,” won the 2013 National Book Award for non-fiction. “The Assassins’ Gate: America in Iraq” was named one of the 10 best books of 2005 by the New York Times and won the New York Public Library’s Helen Bernstein Book Award and the Overseas Press Club book award. He is the author of three other works of non-fiction, two novels, and a play. Packer has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy in Berlin, the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, the New America Foundation, and the Whiting Foundation. His new book, "Our Man: Richard Holbrooke and the End of the American Century," was published in May 2019.
