Maya Wilcox (MC '22) is a Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology major from San Jose, California. Her interest in global health stems from her passion for medicine, service, health equity and education. The intersection of these areas has cultivated her interest in sexual and general health education, especially among women and children. As a native speaker, she hopes to be able to work with and for Spanish-speaking communities. At Yale, she volunteers with Community Health Educators and HAVEN Free Clinic. Her current research projects in public health include a study with the Yale Emergency Department looking at the long-term effects of COVID-19, and a review concerning the uptake of influenza vaccine in adolescents. She is also the business manager of the all-female a cappella group Proof of the Pudding.
