Nathanael (Nat) McLaughlin grew up playing soccer in Los Angeles and later studied industrial engineering at Northwestern University. After graduation, Nat commissioned into the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. Nat led Sailors aboard a warship performing counter-piracy operations off the Horn of Africa, and a Small Boat Company conducting maritime security operations across the Middle East. Nat’s experience also included engagement in bilateral military exchanges with allies and partners from Asia and Europe. Most recently, Nat worked as an analyst with the Office of Naval Intelligence at the U.S. Naval War College, where he supported high-level DoD war gaming and research efforts while completing a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies. At Yale, he is pursuing a MA/MBA joint degree at the Jackson Institute and the Yale School of Management. Nat aims to develop a broader perspective on international security issues and explore ways to impact organizational culture to improve decision-making.
