Sophie Kane is a senior in Davenport College studying American Studies, with a concentration in the international United States. Having grown up across seven countries and three continents, she is motivated by challenges of democracy reform and voting rights expansion around the world. Sophie recently finished a year as the president of Yale Votes, a group she established for the first time as a permanent student organization on campus. She has also worked on issues related to voting during her time as an organizer on the 2020 presidential campaign and as an intern in Congress during the summer of 2021. Most recently Sophie has worked as a researcher and writer for Solitary Watch, one of the first organizations in the United States dedicated to ending solitary confinement. On campus she is also a tour guide and the head of intercultural and social justice programming at the AfroAmerican Cultural Center. During her free time, she loves to attempt new recipes and escape into novels at cafes around New Haven.
