Vanya Shivashankar (SY’23) is a Cognitive Science major from Olathe, Kansas. Her interest in global health stems from her passion for education equity and accessibility worldwide, having worked with various NGOs to with the primary mission of uplifting communities via education. Through these experiences, she learned about the deep connection between education and health, and the importance of developing systems and solutions to address disparities in both of these intersected fields. She is interested in the studying more about global mental health and wants to continue growing as an advocate for mental health equity in various communities. Outside of class, she is a Communication and Consent Educator(CCE), serves as the Media and Outreach Director forCommunity Health Educators, is involved with The South Asian Society at Yale and dances with her teammates on Yale Rangeela! In her free time, she loves to travel, play with her yellow lab Champ, and spend time with friends and family.
