About the Social Innovation Initiative

The SII is on a mission to unite Jackson community members passionate about social innovation and impact.

Events

The initiative hosts several events each semester and many are open to the Yale community, including:

  • Orientation Session: What is social innovation? Learn from our faculty director Teresa Chahine about social innovation in general and about the initiative itself.
  • Social Innovation Stories: A monthly dinner series for graduate students across campus to share their experiences engaging with various parts of the social innovation ecosystem.
  • Student Mixer: Meet other students interested in social innovation and impact. Graduate students only.
  • Social Innovation in Practice: Meet Yale World Fellows working on social change around the world, whether through tech start-ups, impact investing, or awareness initiatives.
  • Joint events with SOM’s Social Impact Lab: Increase your understanding of opportunities for summer internships by hearing from second-year MPP and MBA students about their summer experiences

Resource database

We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of social innovation-related resources at Yale, including a course list, funding sources, local organizations, on-campus employment opportunities, and more. This includes the Social Innovation Initiative’s conference fund, which supports students in attending conferences related to social innovation and impact.
