María Prada Ramírez

2026 Peace Fellow

María Ramírez is a multilingual Colombian advisor, facilitator, and trainer with a track record in building alliances among national and international stakeholders for political engagement and public diplomacy. Her work focuses on dialogue, peace, and transitional justice processes.

In 2004, the armed conflict in Colombia affected her family—a turning point that shaped her vocation. Since then, María has devoted herself to building peace and fostering conflict transformation. In Colombia, she has contributed to local peacebuilding efforts and participated in the negotiation and implementation phases of the 2016 Peace Agreement. She was also an advisor to peace infrastructures in Sri Lanka, Germany, and the US. As the former Head of the Office of Alliances at the Colombian Truth Commission, María promoted a diverse network of partnerships that provided political, technical, and financial support throughout the Commission’s term.

Moreover, she led innovative efforts within the field of transitional justice to design and implement a Legacy Strategy for the post-commission phase. Her current commitment to social outreach and dialogue initiatives promoting non-recurrence is inspired by this work, both nationally and globally. As a mother, she believes that preventing the recurrence of violence also begins at home. She is committed to raising her two daughters for peace, teaching them that Colombia is a multicultural and multiethnic nation where equality and shared well-being are the foundation of lasting peace. María is currently developing a book for them, inspired by this journey of motherhood and peacebuilding.
