2026 Climate Fellow

Jiahui Lu is a climate leader dedicated to transforming energy markets for a sustainable future. As VP of Towngas Smart Energy and GM of Towngas Green Power, he leads one of China’s first companies to integrate renewable electricity trading, virtual power plants (VPPs), and green asset management. He also oversees Towngas Carbon Asset and the Group’s Asset M&A team, collectively managing more than 100 TWh of annual electricity transactions and 10 million tonnes of carbon credits.

His career bridges technology, finance, and policy across Asia and Europe, with earlier roles at ENGIE, EDF, and Fraunhofer ISE shaping his global perspective on the energy transition. Today, his work explores frontier models such as renewables aggregation, cross-border green certificate trading, and the tokenization of energy and carbon assets—connecting real-world climate solutions with innovative financing.

Guided by a belief in “collective achievement,” he is committed to creating platforms where technology, investors, and society converge to accelerate decarbonization. His leadership emphasizes building resilient teams and fostering cross-border partnerships that unlock climate ambition at scale. Educated in sustainable energy systems (Zhejiang University in China and KTH in Sweden), Jiahui combines deep technical expertise with a vision for inclusive and equitable energy futures.
