Lorraine Njue

2024 Climate Fellow

Lorraine Njue is the Head of Strategy and Partnerships at the African Risk Capacity Insurance Limited (ARC), spearheading fundraising and capital management initiatives, with a focus on donor engagement and comprehensive donor management strategies. As the go-to person for ARC's strategic collaborations, Lorraine integrates the organization's value propositions with its financial sustainability aims to accentuate ARC's impact and vision.

In her previous role as the Head of Actuarial at ARC, Lorraine was the technical fulcrum in pricing, product development, capital management, reinsurance, and risk management. Her professional journey has seen her at the helm of actuarial teams at prestigious institutions, including KPMG London and Continental Reinsurance—a pan-African reinsurer with a vast African footprint.

Lorraine is a distinguished Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK, and stands out as one of the few female qualified actuaries in Africa. Her expertise spans a broad spectrum: from climate change, parametric insurance, actuarial management, regulation, to reinsurance. She actively mentors budding actuaries, especially encouraging more female participation in the actuarial field in Africa, as the Patron of the Actuarial Students Society of Kenya and as the President of the Actuarial Society of Kenya.  Lorraine holds a BSc in Actuarial Science and MScs in Actuarial Management from Bayes Business School.
