Satrio A. Wicaksono
Satrio Adi Wicaksono is based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he leads IUCN’s forests portfolio across Asia. Originally from Jakarta, Indonesia, Satrio has been working at the intersection of actionable environmental research and policy processes in Southeast Asia and beyond. He has conducted research and managed projects in the areas of nature-based solutions, forest and landscape restoration, community-based forest management, forest conversion legality, sustainable agricultural commodity production, and sustainable ocean management.
Satrio previously served as a Forest and Land Use Governance Expert with European Forest Institute’s EU REDD Facility, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to that, he developed and managed World Resources Institute's Sustainable Ocean and Forest and Landscape Restoration portfolios in Indonesia. He holds a BA from Wesleyan University, where he double majored in geology and environmental studies and obtained a certificate in international relations, and a PhD in tropical climate science from Brown University.
