
Tanya Kak
Tanya Kak currently leads the oldest and largest portfolio — Climate and Environment — at the Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, a domestic Indian philanthropy. Her efforts focus on addressing the interconnected challenges of development and climate risks in India. Her current work aims to enhance community resilience through catalytic philanthropic investments while prioritizing community-centric digital innovations that can address varied dimensions of the climate and the energy crisis.
Prior to this, Tanya acted as the South Asia regional policy sector lead for the agriculture sector and the energy, environment, and climate change sector at J-PAL, based out of the Massachussets Institute of Technology. She steered several high-impact partnerships with the state and federal governments on a range of climate-related themes spanning agriculture to power systems, leveraging data and evidence to accelerate climate action. She is a fellow at the Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition and was also chosen as a U.S.-India emerging climate leader by ORF America.
