Yubo Zhai

2025 Climate Fellow

Yubo Zhai is the general manager of sustainability and international cooperation of NaaS Technology, which is the first U.S.-listed company in the field of green transport and EV service in China. Prior to NaaS Technology, he worked at EDF (Électricité de France) as head of digital innovation and international grid business in China. He has over 10 years of experience in the fields of energy transition, clean energy financing, and international energy investment.

Yubo has developed a series of local standards and carbon reduction methodologies in the transport sector. He pioneered the Carbon Credit Incentive Scenario in the electric vehicle service, which more than 1 million people have used. In 2024, he developed a demonstration project for EV charging service in rural areas named “EV Charging beyond Urban” and won the Young SDG Innovative Award initiated by the UN Global Compact — the only representative from China — along with young leaders from 15 other countries.

He is a technical member of the IEEE Renewable Energy System Committee, a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Alliance of UNDP, a China-U.S. Climate Champion, and a “Green Pioneer” of Bloomberg in China. In 2023, he was selected as the official representative of China to participate in the United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum.

He has been invited to represent Chinese entrepreneurs and youth at several high-level global conferences, including COP26, COP27, COP28, UNEA-6, and the Summit of the Future, where he has delivered keynote speeches about digital transformation of energy and innovative sustainable practices in China.
