Zimasa Vazi

2026 Climate Fellow

Zimasa is an impact-driven climate governance professional with over a decade of experience advancing equitable, low-carbon development in South Africa and across the Southern Africa. As Senior Manager for Stakeholder Engagement at the Presidential Climate Commission, she plays a strategic role in facilitating inclusive policy processes and multistakeholder platforms that shape South Africa’s just transition to net zero.

She has successfully led dialogues, public consultations, and climate justice initiatives that foreground the voices of workers, youth, and vulnerable communities in climate policy. Her work bridges government, civil society, and business to co-develop and co-implement solutions on the just transition, climate finance, mitigation and adaptation.

With strong technical and convening expertise, she has shaped flagship national frameworks and projects, including the economic diversification and municipal support programmes.

Zimasa is passionate about deepening South–South learning, building global peer networks, and advancing systemic approaches to a people-centered just transition. She brings an interdisciplinary lens, combining policy design, participatory engagement, and communications to drive climate ambition and equity.
