Andrew Makridis is the former chief 0perating officer of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), where he concluded a 37-year career in 2022. As the agency's third-ranking official, he oversaw the CIA's global operations, budget, personnel, technology, security, and long-term strategy. Throughout his career, Makridis specialized in intelligence analysis of Russian, Chinese, Iranian, and North Korean strategic weapons, space capabilities, and weapons of mass destruction. Following the September 11 attacks, he served for three years as President George W. Bush's daily intelligence briefer. He later led the CIA's Weapons and Counter Proliferation Mission Center, directed the agency's response to the historic Vault 7 cyber breach, and helped modernize the CIA's cybersecurity and organizational structure. 

A recipient of numerous intelligence and leadership awards, he now teaches and researches U.S. intelligence, national security, and strategic affairs at Yale.
