About

Ernesto Zedillo is a professor of international economics, politics, and environmental studies. Before joining Yale in 2002, he served as President of Mexico from 1994 to 2000, following senior government roles including Secretary of Education, Secretary of Economic Programming and Budget, and Undersecretary of the Budget. At Yale, he has taught courses on globalization, international economics, and Latin American development while serving on numerous international commissions addressing global governance, economic development, democracy, public health, and sustainable development. A member of The Elders, founded by Nelson Mandela, Zedillo has also served on the UN High-level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs, the Global Commission on Drug Policy, and the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response. He remains a leading voice on globalization and international cooperation.
