About
Iván Duque Márquez served as President of Colombia from 2018 to 2022, leading the country through the COVID-19 pandemic while advancing policies focused on economic growth, entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, education, migration, infrastructure, and public security. Before the presidency, he spent nearly a decade at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C., where he worked on economic development before leading its Culture, Creativity, and Solidarity Division. Elected to Colombia's Senate in 2014, Duque championed legislation promoting electric mobility, creative industries, maternity leave, public health, and socially responsible businesses. He has authored several books on economics, governance, and public policy, including The Orange Economy, which helped popularize the concept of the creative economy as a driver of development. Since leaving office, Duque has remained active in global policy discussions on democracy, innovation, sustainability, economic development, and Latin America's role in international affairs.
