About

Lauren Falcao Bergquist is an economist studying international development, with a focus on agricultural markets and firms in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent research explores constraints to agricultural growth, intermediation in domestic supply chains, and incentives for quality provision. Much of her work employs randomized control trials, with an eye towards how such trials can inform policymaking at scale.

Bergquist is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the lead academic for Rwanda at the International Growth Centre, and an affiliate at the Jameel Poverty Action Lab and the Center of Economic and Policy Research. She was previously a Saieh Family Fellow in Economics at the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago and an assistant professor of economics at the University of Michigan.
