Paul Kennedy is the founding director of International Security Studies and a Distinguished Fellow of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy. An internationally renowned historian, Kennedy's scholarship explores the relationship between military power, economics, diplomacy, and the rise and decline of great powers.
His landmark 1988 book, The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers, transformed debates about geopolitics and international relations and has been translated into more than 20 languages. Kennedy has also written extensively on grand strategy, the World Wars, diplomacy, and the United Nations. A Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), he remains one of the world's leading historians of international affairs and global power.
