About

Raphaela Schweiger is an executive leader in international philanthropy and global policy, working at the intersection of climate, migration, governance, and social cohesion. She is a Director in the Global Issues Department at the Robert Bosch Foundation, where she leads international efforts on climate mobility, migration governance, inclusion and refugee protection, digital technologies, and resilient international cooperation. As part of the foundation’s extended leadership, she has helped shape strategic realignment processes and built partnerships across governments, multilateral institutions, philanthropy, and civil society worldwide. Her work focuses on navigating complex geopolitical shifts and translating them into actionable strategies. Raphaela advises governments, international organizations, and civil society on organizational development and on key global challenges related to migration, climate, and governance. She is a frequent contributor to high-level international processes and conferences. From 2021 to 2025, she served as Chair of the European Philanthropic Initiative on Migration, Europe’s leading collaborative fund on migration, democracy and belonging. She is Chair of the Board of the Doris Wuppermann Foundation, which supports youth-led initiatives on democracy and civic participation in Germany, and a European Leadership Accelerator Fellow (2024) of the Atlantic Council. Her book, Beyond States: The Global Compact for Migration and the Role of Non-State Actors and Cities (2023), examines the evolving landscape of global migration governance. She holds a doctorate in political science and studied in Munich, Frankfurt, Darmstadt, and Madrid.
