Austin Bryniarski is a Master of Environmental Science (MESc) candidate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (F&ES). He is interested in the roles law, policy, and social movements play in creating socially just food systems in the context of a changing climate. His current research investigates how corporate food supply chain actors, food and environmental NGOs, and philanthropic organizations influence policy debates and legal norms both domestically and internationally.
Austin has previously worked at the Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic and the Resnick Program for Food Law and Policy at UCLA. Most recently, Austin was the Lazarus Fellow at the Yale Sustainable Food Program, where he collaborated with students, faculty, and staff on academic initiatives that centered food and agriculture topics. Austin is a teaching fellow in the Environmental Protection Clinic and chairs the Yale Food Systems Symposium. In New Haven, Austin chairs the New Haven Food Policy Council and is committed to community-based food justice efforts. Austin received his B.A. in environmental studies from Yale College in 2016.
