Description:

International Security Studies and the Schmidt Program on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies at the Jackson School, in partnership with the Yale Film Society, invite you to a special pre-screening of The Creator and a conversation with film director and screenwriter Gareth Edwards.

The Creator, opening in theaters on Friday, September 29, envisions a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence robot forces. The science fiction thriller is centered around the hunt for the architect of a mysterious AI weapon with the power to end the war—and humankind itself—raising complex questions about the nature of machine intelligence and human consciousness; AI ethics; and responsible military use.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards, who also co-wrote the screenplay. A British filmmaker, Edwards has gained widespread recognition for directing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) among many other major movies.

Edwards will introduce the film, after which Ted Wittenstein, executive director of International Security Studies, will interview him following the screening.
