Carla Rangel (DC ‘24), a Houston native, is majoring in the history of science, medicine, and public health and pursuing a certificate in global health studies and French. One of Carla’s main interests lies in exploring the relationship between allopathic and traditional medicine and how trust (or lack thereof) in healthcare systems, law, faith/religion, and ethics are at the forefront of the conversation. Carla’s involvement as a Spanish interpreter at HAVEN Free Clinic, an advocate for expanding HUSKY healthcare in Connecticut, and a Yale Policy Institute Public Health research project member has helped her better understand the importance of community-based approaches in mitigating healthcare-related inequities. Carla is a proud first-generation student whose Christian faith directly impacts how she views her academic and career pursuits.
