Carmen Lopez Villamil is a junior from Brooklyn, New York. She studies the history of social movements as a joint BA/MA student in the History department. She is interested in organizing beyond and against the nation-state; in hyper-local autonomies and translocal Indigenous/migrant solidarity. She has worked in youth organizing and classroom teaching in New York City and literacy in prisons around New Haven. In Barcelona and in San Cristóbal, Chiapas, she has researched Latin American migration. She makes pizza and co-directed the Camp Yale Program at the Yale Sustainable Food Program, works on community partnerships at Dwight Hall, and runs Teen Takeover with high school students at WYBCx, the Yale radio station.
