Miette Maoulidi is a junior at Yale College studying Political Science and American Studies. She is interested in advancing the rights of racial minorities through the development and expansion of participatory democratic practices domestically. She was first introduced to participatory democratic practices when she helped organize participatory budgeting in her city council district. After observing the promise of participatory budgeting, she continued engaging with participatory democratic practices through an internship with the Texas Organizing Project, during which she developed communication and outreach strategies for criminal justice ballot initiatives in Bexar County. At Yale, Miette has been committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus. She has served as a Title IX representative for the Yale Student Advisory Board; the BIPOC play list manager for the Yale Dramat; and a diversity, equity, and inclusion board member for the Yale Undergraduate Consulting Group.
