Riya Garg, a first-year M.A. student at the Jackson Institute, has more than four years of experience in development consulting. She is a former associate at FSG (a global mission-driven consultancy firm) where she worked on a range of issues, including reproductive and sexual health, impact finance, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Before FSG, Riya worked with Samagra (a governance consultancy), where she assisted state governments of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh in India to improve the quality of education provided in government schools. Riya is passionate about teaching, and has used her free time to tutor, guide, and mentor dozens of students through different forms—independently, as part of NGOs, and through LinkedIn. She has also co-founded Career in Development, a web platform that guides young professionals in India in building careers in the development sector by providing structured and comprehensive information. She is an economics (Honors) graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. At Yale, she will focus on understanding the issue of public service delivery, learn about development finance, and build quantitative analytics skills.
