Tony Ruan (he/him) is a third-year student from Phoenix, Arizona studying Political Science with a concentration in labor studies, as well as completing the Education Studies Scholars Intensive Certificate. A public school student at the time of the 2018 Red for Ed teacher strike, Tony hopes to use his studies in grand strategy to closely examine the potential of the labor movement to reject reactionism and instead inspire long-term, sustainable mobilization for economic and political justice. On campus, Tony studies the National Labor Relations Board as a Dahl Research Scholar with the guidance of Professor Jacob Hacker, and previously served as a Co-Moderator for the Asian American Students Alliance. Tony previously worked at a local for the Service Employees International Union under the mentorship of experienced organizers, as well as the U.S. Senate as a legislative intern.
