This course is an introduction to the constitutional and statutory doctrines that regulate U.S. foreign relations. Topics will include the distribution of foreign relations powers among the three branches of government, the powers to declare war and conduct military operations, the role of
U.S. courts in cases touching on foreign relations, the scope of the treaty power, and legal issues related to the war on terror. Scheduled examination. Note: There is no
enrollment limit on this class, but if enrollment is small enough, a paper option will be made available.
