The Jackson School of Global Affairs will host a conversation with Stephen Heintz, president and CEO of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, titled “A Logic for the Future: International Relations in the Age of Turbulence.” The discussion will be moderated by Jonathan Fanton, president emeritus of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and member of the Jackson School Board of Advisors.

Heintz has devoted his career to strengthening democratic culture and institutions. In 2020, he co-authored a report, Our Common Purpose: Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century, for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. During the 1990s, Heintz served as executive vice president of the EastWest Institute. Based in Prague, he helped propel civil society development, economic reform, and new international security structures in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2002, he led the Rockefeller Brothers Fund’s joint initiative with the UN Association of the USA to open a Track II dialogue that helped lay the groundwork for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. He is the author of “A Logic for the Future: International Relations in the Age of Turbulence” (2024).
