Description:
It has become increasingly clear that supply chains are a vital component of the global economy. Moreover, disruptions in supply chains are particularly relevant for critical and national security products. At the same time, very little is known about these disruptions. Aleh Tsyvinski, the Arthur M. Okun Professor of Economics and Global Affairs, and his research team will announce the launch of a comprehensive, granular, and near real-time index for critical and national security supply chain disruptions— the Blue Center Critical Supply Chain Index and Monitor. Their presentation will describe their work, funded by a Blue Center Faculty Research Initiative grant, to develop a unique data infrastructure at global scale by integrating large, federated commercial and administrative datasets — processing, unifying, and analyzing hundreds of millions of transactions in near real time. This effort has provided an unprecedented level of granularity in understanding global supply chains and disruptions particularly for critical and national security products.
