“On Freedom”: Book Talk with Timothy Snyder

Timothy Snyder, Richard C. Levin Professor of History at Yale and award-winning author, will present his newest book about American political philosophy, “On Freedom,” scheduled for release Sept. 17. Snyder will be in conversation with James Levinsohn, dean of the Jackson School.
Snyder is a scholar of history of Central and Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and the Holocaust. He regularly writes and speaks in the international press on Ukraine, American politics, strategies for averting authoritarianism, digital politics, health, and education, also appearing in documentaries, on network television, in major films, and as an expert witness to Congress. Snyder is the author of several additional books, including the 2017 New York Times best-seller “On Tyranny.”
This event is part of the Yale Library Book Talk series, which will feature lectures by and conversations with expert authors who have newly released books of fiction or nonfiction. The event is free and open to the public.
