Description:
Join us for a special conversation, sponsored by the Johnson Center for the Study of American Diplomacy, with Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia and current Australian Ambassador to the United States, as he discusses his forthcoming book, On Xi Jinping: How Xi’s Marxist Nationalism is Shaping China and the World. Drawing from decades of experience as one of the world’s foremost experts on China, Rudd provides an in-depth exploration of Xi Jinping’s worldview and its impact on China’s domestic and foreign policy. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Arne Westad, Director of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy and Elihu Professor of History and Global Affairs.
In On Xi Jinping, Rudd examines the unique blend of Marxism, Leninism, and nationalism that defines Xi’s leadership and offers insight into how this ideological framework is shaping China’s position in the world. This event is an essential opportunity for anyone interested in understanding the forces driving China’s policy shifts and the global implications of Xi’s rule.
Dr Rudd’s remarks will be in his personal capacity, not on behalf of the Australian government.
This event is open to the Yale community. Please register in advance.
