The Schmidt Program presents the Spring 2025 Outer Space Symposium, featuring space leaders across public, private, and nonprofit sectors, sharing their perspectives on national security challenges in the space domain. On February 24, the featured speaker is the Honorable Peter Beshar, former general counsel of the U.S. Air Force. As the chief legal officer and ethics official of the Air Force and the Space Force, Beshar provided oversight and guidance to 2,500 civilian and military lawyers and 500,000 active duty and civilian members of the Department. He placed particular focus on emerging space law issues, nuclear modernization and the integration of commercial technologies.
