The Jackson School of Global Affairs will host the talk, “Protecting Millions of Displaced People One Potluck at a Time: The Power of Community Sponsorship, Global Diplomacy, and Local Welcome,” featuring Jennifer Bond, a law professor, social entrepreneur, and leading global expert on the policy and operational dimensions of various protection pathways.
In addition to her leadership of Pathways International, she chairs the Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative; co-leads the inaugural secretariat of the Resettlement Diplomacy Network; and sits on the boards of Talent Beyond Boundaries and Airbnb.org. Bond has helped inspire, design and launch protection pathways and sponsorship programs in over 20 countries, working closely with governments, civil society, artists, and private sector partners. She previously served as Special Advisor to Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and with the UNHCR in Syria. She holds degrees in Law, Literature, and Business and was awarded the International Commission of Jurists’ Tarnopolsky Award and appointed to the Order of Ontario in recognition of her contributions to global refugee protection.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
