Description:

Join the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy for a roundtable discussion on U.S. immigration reform. Distinguished Practitioner in Grand Strategy Kica Matos will be joined by U.S.-Latin America policy expert Oscar Chacón and journalist Jonathan Blitzer for a conversation on immigration and the 2024 election. Panelists will discuss the current state of immigration policy in the United States and the prospects for immigration reform in the near and long terms.

Blitzer is an award-winning journalist and a staff writer at The New Yorker. He published his first book, Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here: The United States, Central America, and the Making of a Crisis, in January 2024. Chacón is a co‐founder and senior strategy advisor of Alianza Americas. He previously served in leadership positions at several community-based and international development organizations and is a frequent spokesperson on economic justice, human mobility, migration policies, and U.S. Latino community issues. Matos is the president of the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) and the Immigrant Justice Fund (IJF). She has extensive experience as an advocate, community organizer, and lawyer and has been a Distinguished Practitioner in the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy since 2022.
